    Terms of Service

    1. Agreement to Terms

    These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Steer ("Steer," "we," "our," or "us") and govern your access to and use of steer.autos, our car-buying and trade-in advisory services, our SMS/MMS messaging program, and any related content, tools, or features (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

    2. Eligibility

    You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under applicable law to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

    3. Description of the Services

    Steer provides a paid car-buying advisory service. We help clients source competing dealer quotes for new or used vehicles, coordinate trade-ins, and support cash, financing, and lease transactions. Steer is not a dealer, broker, lender, lessor, or insurer. We do not sell vehicles, originate financing, or guarantee the actions, pricing, or inventory of any third party.

    4. Fees and Payment

    • Our standard service fee is $199 for Buy or Sell, and $279 for Buy + Trade-In, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
    • Fees are billed at engagement and are non-refundable once we have begun work on your behalf, except where required by law.
    • You are solely responsible for the purchase price, taxes, registration, financing payments, lease payments, insurance, and any other costs charged by dealers, lenders, or government agencies.
    • You authorize us to charge the payment method you provide for the agreed fees.

    5. Account Registration and Security

    Some features may require you to create an account or dealer portal login. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and promptly notify us of any unauthorized access. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

    6. Acceptable Use

    You agree not to:

    • Use the Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
    • Submit false, misleading, or stolen information (including financing or trade-in details);
    • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or any related systems or networks;
    • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Services without our written permission;
    • Reverse engineer, copy, resell, or create derivative works of the Services;
    • Infringe any intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of Steer or any third party.

    7. SMS / Text Messaging Terms

    By providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to receive transactional and (where separately consented) marketing SMS/MMS messages from Steer, sent via our messaging provider Twilio. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe and HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.     8. Third-Party Dealers, Lenders, and Services

    The Services involve interactions with third parties such as dealers, lenders, lessors, valuation providers, inspection services, and insurance companies. Any contract for the purchase, lease, financing, insurance, or inspection of a vehicle is solely between you and that third party. Steer is not a party to and is not responsible for those contracts, the vehicles, the financing terms, or the conduct of any third party.

    9. Vehicle Information, Estimates, and Tools

    Vehicle data, pricing, valuations, payment estimates, and similar information are provided for general guidance only and may come from third-party sources. Prices, availability, incentives, interest rates, and specifications change frequently. You should independently verify all material information with the dealer or lender before signing any contract.

    10. Intellectual Property

    The Services, including all text, graphics, logos, software, and other content, are owned by Steer or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for their intended purpose. All other rights are reserved.

    11. User Submissions and Feedback

    If you submit content, reviews, testimonials, or feedback to us, you grant Steer a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and display that content in connection with the Services and our marketing. You represent that you have the rights necessary to make such submissions.

    12. Disclaimers

    THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. STEER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR PRICE, SAVINGS, FINANCING, VEHICLE, OR RESULT.

    13. Limitation of Liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STEER AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. STEER'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE FEES YOU PAID STEER IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) US $200.

    14. Indemnification

    You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Steer and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; (c) information you submit through the Services; or (d) any transaction with a third-party dealer, lender, or service provider.

    15. Termination

    We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Services at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including fees owed, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.

    16. Governing Law

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

    17. Dispute Resolution; Binding Arbitration; Class Waiver

    Please read this section carefully. Except for claims eligible for small-claims court and claims for injunctive relief to protect intellectual property, you and Steer agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services exclusively through final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Austin, Texas, or another mutually agreed location, and may be conducted by telephone or video. You and Steer waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in any class, collective, or representative action. If a court finds the class-action waiver unenforceable, the entire arbitration clause is unenforceable, but the remainder of these Terms remains in effect.

    18. Changes to the Services or Terms

    We may modify the Services or these Terms at any time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will post the updated Terms and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

    19. Miscellaneous

    • Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Steer regarding the Services.
    • Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
    • No Waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
    • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
    • Notices: We may provide notices via email or by posting on the Site.
